Pumpkin Kaya Wholemeal Milk Bun 金瓜加椰全麦面包
Guess what I did to my yummy pumpkin kaya that I made yesterday? Yes, I paired it together with my Japanese milk bread recipe to make this Pumpkin Kaya Wholemeal Milk Bun. In line with the healthy nature of the pumpkin kaya, I braved myself to adapt my Japanese milk bread recipe to include wholemeal flour for a wholesome recipe. The experiment paid off handsomely. It was super delicious! A perfect combination. The bread remains soft and fluffy for two days because of the use of tangzhong method. Don't know about Day 3 though because we have already finished all the bread!

Pumpkin Kaya/Pumpkin Coconut Jam 金瓜加椰
I know there are many recipes for pumpkin kaya and I am not surprise one bit how popular it is. This kaya is a keeper! For a start, it is way healthier than the normal kaya we consume. It uses lesser sugar as the pumpkin itself is already naturally sweetened. But most of all it is eggless. Not only do you save on consuming bad cholesterol, it also means that people who are vegan or allergic to eggs could have a chance to savour this wonderful Malaysian delicacy called kaya. Blessed be the one who invented this pumpkin replacement! It is ingenious.

Liu Sha Bao/Salted Egg Yolk Custard Bun 黃金流沙包
My husband absolutely love this. We used to go to Puchong to eat dim sum just for this bao.
For those who do not know what this is, let me give you a quick introduction. Its uniqueness stemmed from its oozing creamy filling in the middle of the bao not unlike that of a molten lava cake. I call it an oriental molten lava bun. This dish is relatively new in the dim sum family. It is normally served hot in order for the filling to remain runny.

Yam Paste Snowskin Mooncake 芋头冰皮月饼
Have done a little yam paste with the intention of making mooncake with it for this coming Friday. I know it is still quite early but I thought of surprising my friends with an early mooncake when they come over for dinner on Friday. As for the filling that I did, I used the yam paste with pumpkin in the middle (in replacement of salted egg yolk) to make what I call an orh nee (Teochew yam paste) mooncake. Making the yam paste and pumpkin filling itself was pretty easy. I got it done in 15 mins because of the small quantity.

Pumpkin Mantou/Pumpkin Steamed Bun 南瓜馒头
This is another pumpkin dish that I did for my son, camouflaged in mantou, or chinese steamed bun. He adores mantous and baos, but hates pumpkin. I just can't just leave something so nutritious like pumpkin alone. I used my trusted basic bao recipe and adapted it to add pumpkin puree. The result is this golden, fluffy, gorgeous mantou that is plain delicious. It can be eaten as it is, or used as an accompaniment to dishes that calls for mantou. You can also add different fillings in the middle to give it more flavour.

Winter Solstice Festival 冬至
As a Christian, Christmas is huge. Christmas is where we celebrate the birth of our beloved Jesus Christ, our Lord God and our Saviour. Even in a muslim country like Malaysia, Christmas is celebrated with much splendour and merryment amongst the non-muslims on every 25th of the year. Unbeknownst to many, there is another day of celebration, a few days prior, that is also of much importance to the Chinese....

Easy Healthy Breakfast - Pumpkin Wholemeal Pancakes
If you have not already gotten bored with pancakes, please bear with me. This would be my last recipe on the pancake series. I have to give you this. It is different. It is easy. It is nutritious. I know not many of you adore wholemeal flour, what more with yogurt and pumpkin. But let me assure you that when these ingredients combined, the result is somewhat smashing.
